How does parking work?

There is on street parking. Please park on the sidewalk side of the street, this is also the side of the street near our home.

How long are sessions?

Typically a psychotherapy session is 50-minutes. Neurofeedback/biofeedback sessions are 45-50 minutes.

Do you take insurance?

We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. If you have a different insurance company, we are happy to provide a super bill for you to submit for out-of-network benefits.

We believe you get the most benefit when we are not limited by an insurance company about the scope of services we can offer or the duration of therapy.

Neurofeedback is not typically a covered service.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for 48 hours’ notice of cancellation. If you cancel with fewer hours of notice, we will charge your regular rate. We do understand that life happens; and so, as a courtesy, we don’t charge for the first missed appointment.

What types of payment do you accept?

Debit/credit cards, cash, personal checks.

About the Therapy

What ages do you work with?

We provide psychotherapy to ages 18 to 100. We provide neurofeedback/biofeedback to ages 6 to 100

Do you give homework?

Sometimes. Not always. We also like to share informative videos or book recommendations.

What do you actually do in sessions with clients?

Each client receives an individualized program. But to generalize a bit, the first appointment will be with Hayes primarily but, depending on your situation, Megan may join this conversation, too. That is a time to get to know each other a little bit and make a plan for getting started.

If you want to do neurofeedback, we will do an initial assessment for that. For subsequent sessions, you will meet with one or both of us (separately) depending on whether neurofeedback is part of your plan. You can expect us to listen, support you, challenge you, and celebrate with you when you feel better.

What is your professional training?

Hayes is a Licensed Professional Counselor (since 2003) with an M.A. from Bastyr University. Megan received her neurofeedback training from the Institute for Applied Neuroscience and EEG Education & Research.

What else do I need to know about getting the most out of therapy with you?

We expect our clients to be committed to becoming their best selves. That means showing up to appointments and making a sincere effort to do what we are suggesting. We also expect you to be honest with us about what you want to get out of the experience and how you feel progress is going.

Other Questions

Do you have any pets in your office?

Yes, our dog Ruka may be hanging out in the office. She’s pretty chill. And she’s great about leaning on you sympathetically if you are crying. However, if you are not a dog person, just let us know; we will keep her out of the way during your appointment.

Speaking of crying, what happens if that happens?

We will treat it as a normal thing, because it is normal. And we will pass the Kleenex and wait patiently until you are ready to proceed. No big deal.

Do I have to lie on a couch?

No, but it is an option if you want to.

Am I allowed to ask personal questions?

Yes, of course. We will choose whether to answer them.
